Hohhot (China), May 7 (IANS) More than 1,000 sports lovers from China and Mongolia participated in a friendly sports meet that kicked off on Saturday in Erenhot, a border city in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Participants, mainly from China's Erenhot and its neighboring city Zamin-Uud of Mongolia, will take part in a variety of sport events, such as futsal, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis and some entertaining games, organizers said, reports Xinhua.

The friendly sports meet debuted in 2014, aiming to promote communication and culture exchange between Chinese and Mongolian people.

Erenhot has been a hub for China's economic, trade and cultural ties with Mongolia.
